What could be better than doing exercise whilst helping the environment? At Eco Gym you convert your human power into electricity whilst exercising and put it back into the grid. The gym is offering free access to the gym and exercise classes throughout the Ageing Well Festival. A full listing of exercise classes can be found at eco-gym.co.uk/classes; classes are available on a first come, first serve basis and you are advised to arrive at least 10 minutes before the class starts. Eco Gym are also offering discounted membership to those who try the gym during the festival!

BOAT TRIP TO THE OFFSHORE WIND FARM

Enjoy a spectacular view of this new technology, as you float between the enormous yet elegant windmills and marvel at the epic scale of this landmark. Skipper Paul will give a running commentary and answer your burning questions. There are limited spaces for self-propelled (non-electric) wheelchairs and participants must be able to handle sea movement. Please be advised that this trip  is subject to appropriate weather conditions and that the trip may be moved to an alternative date, should the weather prevent sailing on the dates above.

The site is flat, with bark chipped paths and a compost toilet. PIONEER WOMEN DOCTORS OF BRIGHTON AND HOVE

During the late 19th and early 20th centuries Brighton and Hove became the centre for some of Britain’s earliest and most pioneering female doctors who helped to fund and run local women’s hospitals such as the landmark Lewes Rd Dispensary for Women and Children, and the New Sussex Hospital for Women on Windlesham Rd. This illustrated talk will explore the fascinating stories of some of our first women doctors, the ideas they had and struggles they faced to prove that a woman’s place could be in the operating theatre or consulting room.

As part of the Ageing Well Festival, Whitehawk F.C are hosting a session of football memories with their expert historian, a behind the scenes tour and a chance to meet the players before kick off against Romford. This will be part of the new Whitehawk Legends group which will be starting soon!
